1. took (takes) ..... away with him - 他带走了.
应该是错了，如果这句子是用 along(带着/带来了), 才比较合理。
2. ear（耳） 是打错字， 应该是 eat (吃）
... and that even if he took a whole herd of elephants along with him, the whole herd would not eat up one single baobab...
那怕(就算)是他带（着）来了一群大象，这一群大象也吃不了一棵猴麵包樹(熱帶樹木)。
took（takes) ..... along with him - 带（着）来了。
took (takes) ..... away with him - 带走了。
这两句也可以是这样写：
took (takes）along .... with him. 带（着）来了。
took （takes) away .... with him. 带走了。
意思一样。
